How the shots, sound and characterisation follow codes and conventions of the Teen Rom-Com Genre!

What a long title!

Hello there! So the weekend is here, and for all of you who are interested (I don't see why you wouldn't be!) I am going to be discussing today how various elements of our movie opening fit with the codes and conventions of our Teenage Comedy Genre!

Let's Begin.

Shots
In the Our Holiday opening, there are a range of different shots, ranging from fast, medium and slow shots throughout the duration of our piece. Now our final version is still being edited (up next week) and contains a few more shots, but as the director and writer of the film, my ideology is to display the course of events from the Albert's (main character) view.

I do this by creating quick shots when he falls over, or shaky shots when he is feeling nervous. This allows the audience to see everything from his point of view, however, it is NOT a point of view shot throughout. The audience are an omniscient third person so to speak in the background. This adds an element of reality to the film, as the course of events are things that have happened to me and my co-producers, Meg and Simon!

Sound

We used different microphones throughout the process to test the best sound quality during the process of filming. First we tried lapel mics, but they were far too obvious on camera, so we all forked out for a condenser microphone, and we saw a significant improvement in the sound quality.

Characterisation
Our characters are based on the generic characters of the Teenage Comedy Genre - Look at The Inbetweeners for example; There is Will; the sensible one,and  Jay; the idiot. These two characters are the inspiration for Albert and Kel, the two main characters in our movie opening.

Watch our first draft with these things in mind, and let us know what you think! Thanks very much for reading!

Video shoot for our opening!

Hello everyone!

We have been busy bees working on our video opening; we've been editing, filming, re filming, editing sound, colour grading and building all sorts of bits of set for our coursework this year.

It has been truly so much fun. We are currently awaiting to go back to school to edit on the Macs, but we have been working to get everything ready for when we go back to add on the final scene to our opening.

Pictures will follow when my phone is actually charged, but in the meantime, enjoy the holidays! Back to revision it is for me! See you soon!
